2025 Australia Day Awards Ceremony

23 JANUARY 2025 AT THE ARTHOUSE, WYONG

It was wonderful to have the 3 Villages Community Group nominated again and to attend the ceremony on 23 January, along with Stephanie Blower, group secretary and public officer. It was pretty special and incredibly inspiring to see so many other hard-working groups and individuals around the Central Coast who have made outstanding contributions to their local communities.

Congratulations to all the winners listed below:

  • Central Coast Citizen of the Year: Happiness Habits Inc.
  • Community Group Award: The Bikers Hand Inc;
  • Community Life Award: Louise Chiekrie;
  • Senior Citizen Award: Betty Brown;
  • Young Person of the Year Award: Matilda Taylor;
  • Joint Volunteer Award: Derryck Klarkowski and Paul Mikkelsen.

I moved to the Central Coast when I was just two but have spent ten years living in QLD and one year travelling Australia in a bus with my husband and two girls. We also spent one year living in the UK, but other than that, I have lived on the coast all my life, and moved with my family to the 3 Villages in 2017.

Growing up in Erina Heights I attended Terrigal Primary, Erina Heights Public and Terrigal High schools. My parents built a preschool at Kincumber (when there were hardly any houses there) and Dad was a high school teacher at The Entrance, Terrigal and Erina high schools. Both sets of grandparents were also “Coasties” growing orchids, working at the local racecourse, in pest control and a school principal at local primary schools.

Although I studied hospitality, most of my working life has been in admin and bookkeeping along with owning businesses. When a community opportunity presented itself, as the Saratoga Hall Booking Officer, I jumped at the chance right away. Now, I am looking forward to helping the committee expand the use of our wonderful hall for the 3 Villages community!
